Villefranque: a new industrial stage for SOMOCAP, widely reported in the media

The opening of SOMOCAP’s new industrial site in Villefranque marks an important step in the company’s development. This new production unit, dedicated to thermoplastic technologies, has attracted a great deal of media interest and has been the subject of numerous articles in the regional and national press.

In addition to the announcement of a new industrial building, the media highlighted the company’s dynamic growth, its multi-material technological positioning and its commitment to an innovative and responsible industry.

New production facilities to support growth

Opening in summer 2025, the Villefranque site is part of a new development phase for SOMOCAP. This 2,500 m² building is entirely dedicated to thermoplastic injection moulding activities and complements the historic Jatxou site, which specialises in rubber and composite technologies.

This industrial organisation now enables the company’s activities to be structured around two complementary sites, while strengthening the synergy between the different materials and processes mastered by SOMOCAP.

Designed to keep pace with the company’s growth, this new workshop will enable :

  • increase production capacity,
  • develop medium-sized series,
  • improve industrial flexibility,
  • and to increase the automation of certain processes.

This development is part of a sustained growth dynamic, with business increasing in recent years and prospects for development in several demanding industrial sectors.

A plant designed to combine performance and quality of life in the workplace

From the outset, the Villefranque site was conceived as a modern industrial facility, capable of reconciling production performance, energy efficiency and quality of life in the workplace.

The building, designed in a wood-concrete structure, offers excellent thermal inertia and improved acoustic comfort. Natural light, the organisation of spaces and ergonomic handling equipment have also been designed to improve working conditions for teams.

In addition, a number of measures are helping to reduce the site’s energy footprint:

  • a photovoltaic system covering part of the energy requirements,
  • a freecooling system to reduce consumption linked to machine cooling,
  • centralised control of energy equipment,
  • intelligent LED lighting systems and rainwater recovery systems.

All of this contributes to a leaner, more efficient industrial approach.

Regional and national media recognition

The announcement of this new industrial site was widely reported in the media, testifying to the interest shown in SOMOCAP’s industrial dynamic and its roots in the Basque Country.

Several press titles have reported on this new stage:

Two complementary sites in the Basque Country

Now with two production sites in the Basque Country – Jatxou for rubber and composites, and Villefranque for thermoplastic technologies – SOMOCAP is continuing to develop its industrial facilities, drawing on more than thirty-five years’ experience in the processing of technical materials.

This complementarity enables the company to offer its customers innovative solutions tailored to the most demanding industrial projects, while consolidating its local roots and its commitment to a competitive French industry.
