Silicones are materials of mineral origin, derived from silica. They are completely chemically inert and are widely used in the medical and food sectors.
For medium production runs, EVC Silicones (Hot Vulcanizable Elastomers), suitable for compression and injection molding, are preferred.
For large production runs, LSR Silicones (Liquid Silicone Rubber) are the ideal solution, as they combine all the advantages of EVC silicone with a process tailored to large production runs, thanks to a more reactive chemistry and automated burr-free moulding.

Liquid silicone injection is an industrial moulding process for manufacturing flexible parts in high volumes. Derived from silica, this mineral material is chemically inert and resistant to extreme temperatures and chemical agents. Its automated, flash-free moulding guarantees cleanliness, repeatability and productivity. It differs from HTV silicone, which is suited to small and medium production runs.
At SOMOCAP, the liquid silicone injection process is based on automated two-component moulding, designed for medium and large industrial production runs. Two liquid components are precisely metered, mixed and injected into a heated mould, where rapid vulcanisation takes place. This process guarantees flash-free moulding, excellent dimensional repeatability, optimised cycle times and consistent quality, even for complex technical parts.
LSR liquid silicone moulding meets the demands of medium and large production runs through an automated and competitive process that ensures high cycle rates and consistent quality. It delivers excellent dimensional repeatability, flash-free moulding with no secondary operations, high temperature resistance and strong chemical resistance. It also guarantees industrial cleanliness, reliable sealing functions and cost optimisation, with high-performance production output.
HTV silicone (EVC) is processed by compression or injection for small to medium production runs. LSR silicone, being more fluid and reactive, is injected in an automated, flash-free process, making it particularly well suited to medium and large industrial production runs.
Liquid silicone injection becomes relevant from a few tens of thousands of parts, when repeatability, consistent quality and process automation allow costs and reliability to be optimised in series production.
Yes. Liquid silicone injection offers excellent temperature resistance, strong resistance to chemical agents and long-term stability, making it well suited to demanding industrial environments.
Yes. LSR silicone can be overmoulded onto other materials, particularly thermoplastics, to combine rigidity and flexibility or to integrate sealing and protection functions.
SOMOCAP manages the design and production of LSR series tooling with qualified partners, within a controlled and validated industrialisation process prior to production.
Controls are performed throughout production: process parameter monitoring, dimensional checks, functional verifications and full traceability, to ensure the conformity and consistency of delivered parts.
Choosing SOMOCAP means benefiting from nearly 35 years of expertise in technical material processing (composites, thermoplastics, elastomers, LSR). Certified ISO 9001 and EN 9100, our company supports aerospace, energy and medical sectors from design through to series production. We integrate responsible innovation, bio-based materials and environmental footprint reduction to deliver reliable, durable and competitive solutions.
