Thermoplastic overmoulding on carbon
In partnership with Epsilon Composite, Somocap holds a co-patent for thermoplastic overmoulding of composite tubes.
These solutions make it possible to replace manual insert gluing or riveting operations with automated injection moulding. Proof of both its technological and economic performance, this technology is field-proven through qualification on the Airbus A350 and robotic applications, and has received the Global Industrie Award 2023 in the exemplary partnership category.

SOMOCAP serves a wide range of industrial sectors with high demands for reliability and repeatability. Plastic injection moulding enables the production of technical parts for connector systems (sheaths, protective covers, insulation…), medical and paramedical applications (biocompatible and precision components), aeronautics (parts resistant to thermal and mechanical stress) and industrial equipment (housings, components…).
Plastic injection moulding enables the production of technical plastic parts such as connector components, functional interfaces, structural parts for harsh environments and overmoulded elements. These parts are produced in thermoplastics or LSR silicone, in medium and large production runs, for demanding industrial applications.
Plastic injection moulding offers excellent repeatability, high dimensional accuracy and optimised unit costs in series production. Compared to machining, compression moulding or thermoforming, plastic injection enables a high degree of automation, the production of complex geometries and the direct integration of functions into the part.
The plastic injection moulding process at SOMOCAP is based on a structured approach that includes needs analysis, selection of the thermoplastic or LSR silicone according to technical and regulatory constraints, followed by an industrialisation study to optimise part design and moulding parameters. Series production is automated, with dimensional controls, process parameter monitoring and full traceability at every stage of manufacturing.
Trusting SOMOCAP means relying on 35 years of expertise in the processing of technical plastics and silicones. Our company masters plastic injection moulding and overmoulding for high-value functional parts. Production, automated in France, guarantees responsiveness and sovereignty, with a certified quality approach and personalised technical support from design through to series production.
